Terms & Conditions

Last updated: June 2025

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using the RemoTutors platform. These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and RemoTutors.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the RemoTutors platform (the "Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform. These terms apply to all users including tutors, parents, and administrators.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account on RemoTutors. By registering, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into binding agreements. Tutor accounts are open for public registration; parent accounts are created exclusively by RemoTutors administrators.

3. Tutor Registration and Verification

Tutors must provide accurate and complete profile information including their full name, country of origin, teaching subjects, and a current CV. All tutors are required to undergo verification through EduVerify Kenya as a condition of being hired on the Platform. Submission of false or misleading information may result in immediate account suspension.

4. Bidding and Job Agreements

Tutors may place bids on job listings posted by parents. A bid constitutes a proposal to provide tutoring services at the stated hourly rate. When a parent accepts a bid, a service agreement is formed between the parent and tutor. RemoTutors is not a party to this agreement but facilitates the connection. Both parties are responsible for honouring agreed-upon terms including hours, rates, and communication standards.

5. Fees and Payments

RemoTutors may charge a service fee on completed tutoring engagements. Fee structures will be communicated to tutors before they become applicable. Payments are processed through approved payment channels only. Tutors are responsible for any applicable taxes on income earned through the Platform.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to: provide false information or impersonate another person; bypass our verification processes or the EduVerify Kenya credential check; harass, threaten, or abuse other users; use the Platform for any unlawful purpose; scrape, reverse-engineer, or otherwise misuse the Platform's code or data; or arrange off-platform payments to circumvent RemoTutors' service fees.

7. Content and Intellectual Property

You retain ownership of the content you submit (profile information, CV, messages). By submitting content, you grant RemoTutors a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, display, and store that content for the purpose of operating the Platform. The RemoTutors name, logo, and original platform content are our intellectual property and may not be reproduced without written permission.

8. Account Suspension and Termination

RemoTutors reserves the right to suspend or terminate any account at its sole discretion, with or without notice, for violations of these Terms or conduct that is harmful to the Platform or its users. You may also delete your account at any time by contacting our team at support@remotutors.com.

9. Limitation of Liability

RemoTutors is a marketplace connecting tutors and parents. We are not responsible for the quality, safety, or legality of tutoring services provided by tutors, nor for the accuracy of information posted by parents. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising out of use of the Platform is limited to the fees paid to RemoTutors in the preceding 3 months.

10. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from your use of RemoTutors shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to mediation, and thereafter to arbitration under the laws of the Republic of Kenya. These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Kenyan law.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Users will be notified of material changes via email or in-platform notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

12. Contact

For questions about these Terms, contact us at legal@remotutors.com or by mail at RemoTutors, Nairobi, Kenya.
