RemoTutors ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using our platform, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and profile information you voluntarily provide (such as your country, subjects taught, and profile photo). Tutors additionally provide a Curriculum Vitae (CV) and consent to verification through EduVerify Kenya. We also collect usage data such as IP addresses, browser type, pages visited, and session duration through standard server logs and analytics tools.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to operate and improve the RemoTutors platform, verify tutor credentials through EduVerify Kenya, facilitate connections between parents and tutors, send account-related notifications, prevent fraud and ensure platform security, and comply with applicable laws and regulations. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3. Information Sharing
We share your information with EduVerify Kenya for credential verification purposes (tutors only), Firebase (Google) for authentication and data storage as our infrastructure provider, and payment processors to facilitate earnings withdrawals (tutors only). We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the safety of our users.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase infrastructure, which is hosted in data centres that comply with international security standards. We implement industry-standard measures including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and regular security reviews. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to access the personal data we hold about you, request correction of inaccurate data, request deletion of your account and associated data (subject to legal retention requirements), and object to or restrict certain types of processing. 6. Cookies
RemoTutors uses cookies and similar technologies for authentication (to keep you signed in), security purposes, and basic analytics to understand how the platform is used. You can control cookie settings through your browser. Disabling cookies may affect platform functionality.
7. Children's Privacy
RemoTutors accounts are only available to individuals aged 18 and above. Our platform is designed for tutors (adults) and parents. Student profiles are not created on our platform. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us immediately.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the platform. Continued use of RemoTutors after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
